HUT FULL OF QUOTES, SAYINGS & VERSES

Here is a mini book I started with some Debbie Mumm paper.  I'm going to fill it full of my favorite quotes, sayings and Bible verses.  I'll decorate the pages as I fill them with quotes, etc.  The ribbons hanging down are used for bookmarks.  There is a brown one on the end, but it's hard to see in this photo.

Video of this project at end of post. :)

The outside was made using a piece of cardboard that came in a pack of paper.  I cut it 5 3/4" x 4 1/2".  Then I cut pattern paper the same size (x 4 for inside and outside of front and back covers) and used Tacky Glue to adhere it to both sides of the cardboard.  I then cut a piece of yellow pattern paper 5 1/4" x 4" ( x 2 times) for the inside of both the front and back covers.

The inside pages are cardstock in a variety of colors.  They were actually cards from a Value Pack which are pre-scored for easy folding, and I simply cut down the score line which cut them in half.

I used my Crop-a-dial to punch holes and binder rings I got from Office Depot (100ct) that are 1" rings.  I centered the inside pages (which are 4 1/4" x 5 1/2") vertically so that the covers are larger on top and bottom and right side.

The 5 ribbons to be used for bookmarks in the back were all cut at 13 1/2".  (Shown in video below). They really don't have to be that long, but I wanted them long enough to hang out of the bottom and add a little bit of character along with being functional.  :)  This is how the bookmarks in our church hymnals were when I was a teenager.  That's where this idea came from.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask in the comment section and leave your email so I can respond directly to you!

Thanks for stopping by!

This is my submission for Robyn's Color Challenge.  There is very little pink on the cover (the birdie's wild feather hair), but there are pink pages on the inside!  Click here to go to Robyn's challenge.

Enjoy!  Janis

THIS WILL MAKE YOU LAUGH OUT LOUD!

We live in a little town called North in South Carolina.  There is always so much confusion when giving our address over the phone when ordering something, or making an appointment, etc.  My hubby sent this to me today who received it from a co-worker.  Too funny!!!!

AHOY, MATEY! Paper Playtime Challenge # 5

HELLO!!!  I'm so happy to be home, in my new craft room (drywall - no paint yet; subfloor - no flooring yet), got my desk and computer with printer set up;  got my craft table set up with the Cricut.... life is GOOD!

Here is my first craft project since we've moved.  It feels so good to do a scrapbook page.  I haven't done any scrapbooking in way too long.

I'll handwrite info on the page before adding it to my scrapbook.  This is a picture of my parents holding my first grandchild and their first great-grandchild.  I know he's a boy baby, but these flowers were so pretty that PAM sent me in an ARK (Act of Random Kindness - I know most people say RAK, but I like ARK better because it reminds me of Noah and the Ark and how God saved him and his family with it.  And isn't that what ARKs do for us - save us sometimes - give us a little love in the mail - a little boost in our spirit?).

Background "RAIN" paper & Yellow pattern paper from Debbie Mumm

Cricut cartridge - Mickey & Friends
Donald on page 99 cut @ 4 1/2" and used SHADOW feature too

Cricut cartridge - Create A Critter
AHOY phrase on page 42 cut @ 2 1/2" (I placed layers a little off center to give it a shadow effect)

Font - Antique

Flower rhinestones from Busy Kids Kids' Camp from Joann's

Have a BLESSED day!

Yeah! I'm Back On Line!!

I'm so excited!  I'm FINALLY back on line!

We made it back last Saturday and have been super busy ever since.

There's a lot of work to do on the house.  Right now Tom (my wonderfully smart and talented hubby) is custom building me a kitchen.  How awesome is that!?!

It's going to take me a long while to catch up with everyone, so please be patient.

Love and Kisses,
Janis

Good morning all my bloggy friends!!

Hello!  I made a video yesterday and almost didn't upload it to YouTube because I kept stumbling over my words and measurements.  LOL  But I decided, hey, I'm NOT a public speaker, so what do you expect?  :)

Then I got comments and emails asking to show how I made the cards, so I made another video on that today.

I've included both videos below.

CARDZ TV with Mary,
who is our
PAPER QUEEN this week,
to see her creation for the theme at Paper Playtime (In Thy Face I See Honor, Truth, and Loyalty) and get all the juicy details and measurements for it. She used creative paper layering for her submission.   If you are a creative paper layering kind of gal, you will LOVE Mary's submission for inspiration!  She always makes the BEST cards!  And she used her Martha Stewert Scoring Board to make a custom envelope for it. (I love the MS Scoring Board!!!)  Mary's card fits our theme perfectly!  What a GREAT QUEEN she is!!

If you are a coloring the image kind of gal, you will love the FREE image at SQUIGGLEFLY this week!    I've never even heard of Squigglefly until 2 of the submissions this week pointed me over there.  Both ladies did a JAM UP job on coloring the image using 2 different techniques.  Anyway, just thought I'd share the FREEBIE.

CLICK HERE TO VISIT SQUIGGLEFLY'S freebies for the adorable image.

CLICK HERE to visit HOG WILD ABOUT STAMPING to see her colored image submission.

CLICK HERE to visit RHONDA'S PLACE TO SHARE to see her colored image submission.

And my submission is below this post.  I used the Cricut cartridge to create a project for this theme.

REMEMBER, at Paper Playtime you can interpret the themes any way you like.  This week's theme could actually be interpreted for an Anniversary project, or Graduation project, etc.  Use your imagination!  And you can submit any project you create that's a PAPER PROJECT - for example:
card
tag
box
envelope
scrapbook layout
3-D object
mini album
ETC.
Smoochies to you!

In Thy Face I see HONOR, TRUTH, & LOYALTY

Here is my submission for Paper Playtime's Challenge #2.
I made this card for my husband.  He loves Eagles.

And in my husband's face I see all those things:
HONOR, TRUTH, & LOYALTY.
The theme for Paper Playtime Challenge #2 is:
IN THY FACE I SEE
HONOR, TRUTH, & LOYALTY

It's FUN!

ICE CREAM VACATION

I love this paper and the way this card came out!

I went to the dentist on Friday to get 2 fillings re-done and some other work.  I wanted to work on Mary's challenge for "Vacation" at her Paper Cutz Challenge blog, but I really felt kind of weird, and it just wasn't coming together like I wanted.  (But at least my teeth didn't hurt!)

So I laid in the bed this morning thinking about this card (is that weird?).
I'm very happy with how it came together.  We like to take road trips and mini vacations.  Rarely do we go anywhere for more than a weekend.  It's always fun to walk around whatever town we are in and stop in a local shop and get some ice cream even though they always give way too much, and I usually end up giving mine to Tom or Bonnie to finish off.  Ice Cream was the first thing I thought of when I saw the "Vacation" theme.

Papers:  all from scraps - DCWV & Recollections
Ribbon from Michael's
Buttons from Joann's
Cricut Cartridge:  INDIE ART

HELLO

UPDATE:  I just love all my bloggy friends!  I read your comments and smile or even laugh out loud sometimes!  Thank you so much for all your comments!

Good morning!
Have you been over to Paper Playtime yet to see the very first challenge going on?  Hop over and play along!

Tom & I did a lot of packing last weekend including lots of my crafting items.
I only left out the Create A Critter, Give A Hoot, and Independence Day cartridges to use until we get back to South Carolina.  I told myself to use Give A Hoot today, but after looking through the manual, all I could think of was Create A Critter.  Sorry.  I tried to use something different.
I hope you guys aren't getting tired of seeing similar pattern paper lately either.  I'm trying to use up those scraps!  And I'm trying to be good a get a little ahead with my crafting so I can schedule posts to go up while we are driving across country.  You know I'll be in withdrawal from not crafting for a week.  LOL  But hopefully I'll have a few cards and / or crafts scheduled to post while we are driving through America.  I was able to get about 4 cards done today, so hey, that's cool!

Lavender card base from Value pack pre-scored for easy folding!
Background pink mat cut @ 5 1/4" x 4"
Background checked mat cut @ 5 1/4" x 2"

Hope your week has started off GREAT!

SWEET Using Those SCRAPS

And this is what happens when you have TONS of scraps to use up.
Tom & I packed so much of my craft stuff yesterday. We leave in just 13 or so more days.  Can you believe it?  Please keep us in your prayers.  We will be driving from Anchorage, Alaska to North, South Carolina.  The drive here took about 95 hours.  So we're thinking about a week to get back.  I could feel the prayer coverage for us on the way up here.  Everything fell into place.  Even the flat tire we had was discovered before it caused an accident or permanent damage.

Anyway.... back to the stinkin' sweet skunks...

Create a Critter page 61
Skunks cut @ 2 1/2" and 2 3/4"
Stumps cut @ 1 and 1 1/2"
Phrase cut @ 1 1/2"
Shadow feature used on skunks and stumps
Background papers cut @ 5 1/4" x 4" and 5" x 3 3/4" from scraps - probably K & Company and DCWV

No extra ribbon or rhinestones added since there was so much pattern paper going on.

And I used my Martha Stewart Scoring Board to make the envelopes!  Easy-Peasy!

And just to brighten your day with a smile, here is a picture of our First Grandchild (Kevin) who we will be meeting for the first time in about 2 weeks or so.

Now tell me, is he not stinkin' SWEET?!!?

I hope everyone has had a really fun weekend!
Today we went for a walk down at the pond and did a whole lot of packing.
I also made some very simple postcards with our future new address. (blacked out here obviously LOL)
The photo above is just a couple of the different ones I made.
I wanted something that would fit into an A2 size envelope and not be bulky.
I used background cardstock from DCWV Glitter stack - can't remember the name of it.
I cut a scallop rectangle from Create A Critter p. 56 (Phrase & shift)
I printed out our new address on Avery business cards that easily tear apart and put that on top of the scallop frame.
All that was left was to add a cute critter.
The ladybug is from CAC p.62 and the birdie is from p. 65
That's it!
Really simple and lightweight so I can only use 1 stamp (yeah) and it's just the one sheet like a postcard - it doesn't open or anything.  My Mama will probably put it on her frig with a magnet holder.
See you guys tomorrow!
:)  Smiles, Janis
